I taught a workshop once on documentary style photography, based around a large state fair. We had a classroom session a few days before, then met at the fair and spent the day shooting. I spent part of the day hanging out in the press room, so the participants could drop in and ask questions. The rest of the time I spent walking around with them shooting together. It was a lot of fun, at least for me, and I thing everybody enjoyed it.
This is one of the scenes we came across. I’m not sure if I’ve ever shared my version of this image before. It was taken inside a tent, so the lighting was pretty low resulting in really bad noise especially across the face. I came across it the other day and decided to give it another try using all the new tools and techniques available now. Not a perfect image from a technical standpoint, (not even close) but I’ve always liked it and though I’d go ahead and share it.
Besides, who hasn’t had a day at work where you felt like downing a beer or two and laying your head down and taking a nap?
