In an act of hubris, I intended to get out this week and make some images with the new Sony 50/1.4 lens. Well that was a fib, a pipe-dream, a canard. Lol. So instead I’m just going to post the first image I took, and once again promise to show more later. Seriously this time.
For the photo folks, the lens, as of yesterday, is in stock everywhere and is now shipping. My thoughts on it? Well, it’s a Sony G-Master series, so you already know what to expect - an amazing lens. It’s surprisingly lightweight, yet still solidly built. Focuses fast, and is very sharp. Compared to the 50/1.2 GM, it’s $700 cheaper, a little smaller, and about 1/2 a pound lighter. For me, the differences are too small to spend the extra money on, and the lighter weight is a huge advantage. I expect this will be one of my most used lenses from now on.
